Day 11 of 19 · Part 2: Core Intune workloads
Exporting Intune reports
The report export APIs turn ad-hoc portal downloads into a scheduled data pipeline.
If you’ve ever needed scalable, repeatable Intune reporting, the export APIs are where things get interesting.
Intune exposes report export endpoints that generate datasets on demand and let you pull them down programmatically. They’re perfect for building daily snapshots instead of relying on ad-hoc portal downloads.
Why this matters
- Reports are generated server-side and asynchronously, which is safer for large tenants.
- They’re easy to operationalize: daily export → storage → analytics.
- They enable historical trend analysis: drift, compliance, growth, regressions.
The common pattern
- Submit an export request through Graph, using the
exportJobsAPI. - Poll for completion.
- Download the result (CSV or ZIP).
- Store it in Blob storage or a data lake for long-term analysis.
Once it’s set up, this becomes a quiet but powerful pipeline feeding Power BI, KQL, or custom governance dashboards.
Treat reports as data products, not screenshots.
